13 percent of the American population, that is 1 in every 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer.  More than a million women across the globe are fighting for their life as a result of breast cancer. The prevalence is concerning as the numbers grow and it has now become the disease that is most common among women.  

Breast cancer is not the only thing that needs to be prevented. There are changes in our breast skin, nipples changing, increased lumpiness, fibrocystic breast disease, and even nipple diseases. Many of these are influenced by several factors, largely being genetic factors. If you come from a family with a history of breast diseases and cancer, it is always wise to take preventative measures from a very early age. But, ofcourse, while we cannot control the genes, there are some things we can definitely control. We can control our diet, the things we consume, and what we inhale. Smoking, eating fast food, and drinking excessively can aggravate the chances of having breast diseases. These environmental factors play a major role in how breast cancer and other breast diseases can be prevented. 

And ofcourse, like every organ, even the breast has its superfoods that are extremely beneficial for them. Not all foods are the same for our breasts. Let’s take a look at a list of some very special foods for our breast health. 


Fish is packed with high content of omega 3 and selenium which are extremely essential for our overall health. But even more so for our breasts. Fatty acid like Omega 3 is responsible for the prevention of breast cancer by inhibiting the proliferation of breast cancer cells while also decreasing any breast tumors from developing. Some of the fishes you can eat for the best health of your breasts are salmon, cod,  swordfish, sardines, bluefin tuna and so many more! 


It is not just a social media myth that yogurt is amazing for women’s health. This is a food that is commonly consumed by all women for our reproductive organs as well. While the benefits are not equal to all organs, yogurt is also extremely useful for our breasts. Yogurt assists with digestion and the release of toxins that are not good for our breasts. This is good for the prevention of any early onset of a disease. 

Fruits And Vegetables

All fruits and vegetables are good for our breasts. They are packed with antioxidants, nutrients, and various ranges of vitamins from vitamin A to Vitamin E. There is no such thing as a bad vitamin for our body. However, even among fruits and vegetables, some that are considered big green leaves and other fruits that are citrusy are considered to have shown dramatic prevention of breast diseases in women. Your daily diet for breast cancer prevention may look like a lot of grapefruits, tangerines, and a big stock-up of kale, spinach, and arugula. 


Lentils and legumes like beans and peas are also essential for our breast health. Eating a handful of legumes and lentils a day is good enough to keep breast cancer and other breast diseases away from us. 
As mothers and daughters, we should be aware of how to take care of our breasts. From having essentials like lanolin nipple cream to the best food selection of our breast is part of our self-care.
